Cleveland Valve Stem Inflator

The inflator is a quality product! Purchased to check and inflate tires on our RV-10 without removing the wheel fairings. Before drilling holes in the RV-10’s wheel fairings, I used a RV-12 as a test bed. I drilled a 3/4 inch hole in the wheel fairing (aligned with the 3/4 inch lighting hole in the wheel fairing outer mount). Here’s what I learned: If the metal valve stem is not very close to perpendicular (90 degrees ) to the wheel, it is difficult to get straight on to the valve stem with the inflator. That causes air to escape as you test the pressure. Maneuvering (slight angle) the inflator is required. If the stem is perpendicular to the wheel, a straight on inflator connection is a synch. Unless the RV-10’s valve stems are almost exactly perpendicular(We have “easy flate” tubes) I’ll cut holes a bit larger (maybe 1 inch) in the wheel fairings. Otherwise, if the inflator requires maneuvering the inflator may rub against the wheel fairing drilled holes possibly resulting in damage to the wheel fairings.

Gets the job done

I had been looking for a tool like this for sling time. The size makes it work well for getting to the tire valve with the wheel pants on my RV6

Perfect!

If ever there was a perfectly designed and engineered tool for a specific job, this is it. I tried it today on my RV-8 with 1" holes in the wheel pants. Bingo! No more having to remove about 20 screws and open the front of the wheel pant to check and inflate my tires.

Valve Stem Inflation Tool

I recently acquired one of these air inflation tools from Cleaveland Tool and had the first chance today to use it. It is as advertised, works great to check, add or relieve air pressure from your tires. It is also much nicer that a previous model. I would highly recommend it.
